Day 01: First Stop – Delhi
Upon arrival at the Delhi International Flight Terminal, you will be greeted by our agent at the airport’s arrival lounge. After this, you will then be transferred to the hotel. If time permits we can certainly go with a sightseeing tour of Delhi. Your dinner and over night stay will be in Delhi itself. Next morning, we will be visiting the Ashoka Column (Ashoka Stupa). It was built in the year 259BC, by the great King Ashoka of India. When he installed this stupa, the King spared the villagers from paying taxes and distributed 100 gold coins among the people. In the 07th century, the column was struck by lightning and split into 2 parts. The stupa was then forgotten and neglected for 6 centuries. It was later found in the year 1895.
Delhi – Lucknow – Sravasti
After lunch you will be transferred to the airport terminal to board flight to Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. Upon arrival at Lucknow airport, our agent will accompany you to Sravasti, which was part of the ancient kingdom of Kosala. This particular site has the honor for shielding Buddha for 24 rainy periods in the Jetavana Gardens. It is a spiritual place for the Buddhists since it is here that Lord Buddha carried out the Tirthika heretics. After completing the sightseeing in Sravasti, we will then travel to Lumbini. This is birthplace of Lord Buddha where he was initially called Gautam in his childhood. Lumbini is situated in the southern Terai levels of Nepal. Lumbini has been declared as a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO.
